Today’s guest is one of my co-author’s in the medical anthology “Beyond Challenges: Survival Stories of African Female Immigrants on Life, Love & the Practice of Medicine”.

Dr Tallah tells us how she is charting a different terrain for herself as an IMG in fellowship in Maternity Care.

She started off wanting to be an OBGYN and when she failed to match, she set out for plan B. One which she made work for her.

She is also a non US IMG and a graduate of St. George’s University in the Caribbean.

What surprised me is that she is also one of the only people I know who filed a NATIONAL INTEREST WAIVER in her behalf based on the research work that she did to benefit the US. This waiver category is different and not one easily sought after by other IMG’s with J-1 visas.
