IMG Roadmap Series #31: Dr. Sasha Mikhael, J-1 Visas and How to Match into OBGYN/REI as an IMG

Please note that this episode was recorded on March 20th and a lot has changed with USCIS since then. Refer to the USCIS website by clicking here.

Dr. Mikhael is a Canadian citizen who graduated from Saba University School of Medicine (located on the island of Saba).  She graduated in 2014 and proceeded into OBGYN residency at Providence Hospital/Michigan State University in Southfield MI. She is now training in a very competitive specialty: Reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the Medical College of Georgia as the only IMG fellow at our institution in the department of OBGYN.

In this podcast episode you will learn about:

  • The Conrad 30 Program

  • Her experience with the J-1 visa thus far

  • Her thoughts on the J-1 requirements and J-1 visa waiver

You will also get a glimpse of what it took for her to get to where she is today despite visa and other challenges.

Maybe you aren’t yet at the phase where you are planning out your training visas. She has something for you as well. Last year she came on the IMG Roadmap Series to share about the details of her journey into OBGYN residency. Read the full interview on the IMG Roadmap Series by clicking HERE.

On that blog post, she shares about her scores, how she prepared for the tests, how she matched into OBGYN and so much more.
